Nature's Best Photography International Awards

Nature's Best Photography is an international publication which specializes in beautiful wildlife photography.

Each year  for the past few years they have held an international photographic competition. I found an image of this years International Award winner and then I thought " this would be a great article to have on my blog!".

 Comptition Overview

"The Nature's Best Photography concept began with simple yet dynamic goals: To celebrate the beauty and diversity of nature through the art of photography, and to use this far-reaching medium as a creative tool for encouraging greater public interest in outdoor enjoyment and conservation stewardship.

The annual Awards program evolved from this ambitious mission to become one of the most highly respected and visually compelling nature photography competitions in the world. More than 17,000 entries are judged every year.

Operating in partnership with the Smithsonian National Museum
of Natural History in Washington, DC, the category Winners and selected Highly Honored photographs are exhibited annually to millions of Museum visitors" http://www.naturesbestphotography.com

Conservation Photographer of the Year award

"New in 2007, the Conservation Photographer of the Year award is presented in alliance with the National Wildlife Federation, the largest nonprofit conservation organization in North America. This award was created to recognize a special individual who has used his or her skills as a nature photographer to implement meaningful and measurable conservation efforts and to inform and educate the public about environmental concerns.

Nominations for this prestigious award will be accepted each year as part of the NBPWSR International Awards competition. Nominations may be made on behalf of other photographers that you know, who meet the criteria, or you may nominate yourself. To nominate someone, you must fill out the nomination form and enclose it with your entry. A short list of nominees will be chosen by our panel of judges, who will contact the nominee for additional details, references, and supporting images.

The 2007 winner is Howard Ruby, an outstanding photographer, business leader, and conservation advocate. Chairman of Oakwood Worldwide, Ruby is not only implementing important plans to reduce greenhouse gases within his own company, but he has also launched a new visually supported mission to bring awareness to climate change concerns through his photography and educational outreach."
